iOS 9: Innovations at a glance
In iOS 9, Apple donated some innovations and updates for known features to iDevices. We have summarized the most important of these in this article.
New Apple Apps in iOS 9
As every year, there are some new Apple apps that are preinstalled on iOS 9.
- Enter your favorite topics and interests in the new news app. Apple then collects relevant news and presents it clearly.
- Note: The News app is not yet included in the iOS 9 beta. It is expected to start with the release of iOS 9.
- "Android Migration" makes it easier for Android users to switch to iOS. The app imports messages, contacts, videos, photos, emails and other data wirelessly to your iPhone or iPad.
iOS 9: Innovations in existing Apple apps
Many apps get an extensive update from Apple, which adds new functions.
- With the new Notes app, you can collect data such as pictures and cards in iOS 9, draw with your finger and format text.
- The map app contains a public transport mode that displays information about local public transport. This feature is initially available in Germany but only in Berlin.
- The interaction with CarPlay has also been improved: The connection can now be made wirelessly and voice messages can be played back.
- Siri has also been further developed and now knows more commands. For example, it can display photos, play videos, and remind you to read an email in the evening.
Other innovations in iOS 9
Apart from the apps, there are also some new functions and features in Apple's latest operating system.
- The iPad now masters multi-tasking. With "Slide Over" the user can open a second app without closing the previous app. The iPad Air 2 even masters Split View. This means that two active apps can be displayed side by side.
- Spotlight search now also shows results from the Internet, contacts, apps, media and locations.
- iOS displays suggestions based on your daily routine on the homescreen. In the case of an unknown caller, Siri says who it could be, and when plugging in headphones, iOS 9 suggests continuing a podcast that has started.
- The new energy-saving mode promises an hour more battery life. If, for example, the iPhone lies on a table with the display facing down, the display does not come on when it is notified.
- Security is also improved in iOS 9. So there is now a six-digit passcode and a two-step confirmation.
