If the touchscreen of your iPhone, iPad or iPod stops responding under iOS 9, this is in most cases easy to fix. If necessary, it gets a little trickier. We'll show you how to fix it.
First aid: Clean the touchscreen and exit apps
Especially owners of iPhones 6 and 6 Plus have recently reported that the touchscreen no longer responds to any input. It does not necessarily have to be a software bug.
- First, clean the display to prevent grease residues or other dirt from interfering with the input on the touchscreen.
- If the touchscreen gets stuck in an app, you can try to end the app via the task manager. To do this, click the Home button twice and then swipe the frozen app up to end it manually. You can then start the app again from the home screen.
Touchscreen does not respond: a restart is helpful
If the touch screen freezes while using the phone or gets stuck directly on the unlock screen: A restart restarts the operating system and often eliminates minor problems.
- To restart an iOS device, hold the power button and the home button together for a while until the display goes black and then the Apple logo appears. Your iOS device will now reboot - and with a little luck, you can address it again using the touchscreen.
The last resort for touchscreen problems: factory condition
Admittedly very uncomfortable, but effective is the reset to the factory state. After that, set up your iOS device again and hopefully get rid of the bug.
- First connect your iOS device to your computer and make a backup of your iOS device with iTunes, because later all data on your device will be deleted. Then disconnect your device from the computer.
- Now log in to your iCloud account and click on "iPhone search". Select the device you want to restore and click on "Delete iPhone". Confirm by clicking on "Delete". Now your device is deleted and can be set up again.
- Reconnect your freshly deleted device to your PC and start iTunes. Wait until your iOS device appears in the overview, select it and then click on "Restore iPhone ...". Your previously backed up data will now be transferred to your iOS device.
