As of iOS 8, you are no longer tied to the standard keyboard, but can also install other third-party keyboards. In this guide, we will show you how this works.
iPhone: Add alternative keyboard
- First you need the app that installs the keyboard on your iPhone. Among other things, the free application SwiftKey Keyboard is available.
- Then open the "Settings" app on your iPhone.
- Under the "General" category, select the "Keyboard" menu item and open the "Keyboards" there.
- Tap the "Add keyboard" button. You will find the keyboards from third-party providers in the middle.
- Select the keyboard and it will appear in the list of your keyboards. Choose again here.
- Activate the "Allow full access" option there. Confirm the action with the "Allow" button (see picture).
- The keyboard is then activated. To use the keyboard, tap the globe button in the lower left corner of the keyboard.
