iOS: Deactivate Game Center - Here's how it works
Many iOS users are bothered by the game center - however, you can completely deactivate it and avoid annoying notifications. We show you in this practical tip how this works under all versions of iOS.
Disable Game Center on iOS 7, iOS 8 and iOS 9
You cannot completely remove the Gamecenter app as a system application from your iOS device, but you can turn off all notifications and functions of the application.
- Open the system settings on the home screen of your iOS device.
- You will find your own Gamecenter menu item in the settings. This is in the same section as the settings for music, videos and the app store.
- Above you see your email, which you use as Apple ID. Touch this button.
- A pop-up window opens with various options. Select "Sign out".
- The game center is now deactivated and will no longer bother you with notifications. You can log in again at any time via the system settings or directly via the Gamecenter app.
Disable Gamcenter on older versions
If you have an older version than iOS 7 installed on your Apple device, proceed as follows:
- Open the Gamecenter app on the home screen of your iOS device.
- Switch to the "Me" tab in the app, which is in the first position.
- Click on the email address you use as your Apple ID and select "Unsubscribe".
- The functions of the game center are now deactivated. The next time a game center pop-up window appears in a game, simply select "Cancel" or "Cancel" to avoid being disturbed in the future.
- You can reactivate the functions of the Gamecenter at any time by logging in again in the Gamecenter app.
