Save iPad battery - the 5 best tips
You can save battery with little tricks on the iPad. We'll show you how to get more runtime out of your Apple tablet.
5. Deactivate iPod equalizer
- The iPad has an equalizer function, which is also responsible for high battery consumption.
- The function can easily be switched off under "Settings"> "Music"> "Equalizer".
4. Use WLAN instead of the mobile data network
- With a secure WiFi connection, you can save a lot of battery:
- Due to the fluctuating connection quality in the mobile data network, the iPad requires a lot of energy to maintain the Internet connection. If possible, you should use a WiFi connection.
3. Switch off apps in the background and Bluetooth
- If apps are still open in the background, they often drain the iPad unnecessarily from the battery.
- You can easily avoid this by double-clicking on the "Home button" to display all open apps and switching off the app by tapping a tile for a longer time.
- You should also deactivate Bluetooth to save battery: You can find the function of the same name in the "Settings".
2. Push settings and notifications
- Apple quickly uploads emails, contacts and appointments to the iPad using the push function. However, a permanent internet connection must exist for this. Of course, this is at the expense of your battery.
- How to change the push settings: "Settings"> "Mail, Contacts, Calendar"> "Data synchronization".
- Here you deactivate the push function and switch the schedule to "Manual", for example. So your iPad will only check emails when you open the Mail app. Alternatively, you can choose an interval between 15 minutes and one hour. Then your iPad will search for new emails at regular intervals and notify you when one arrives.
- You can switch off the notifications of the apps under "Messages".
1. Power guzzler screen
The screen draws the most power from the battery. This is how you can reduce energy consumption:
- Reduce the screen brightness: This allows you to use your iPad up to five times longer. The corresponding settings can be found under "Brightness and Contrast".
- Automatically switch off the screen: With the so-called "automatic lock" (in the settings under "General") the screen switches off automatically after 2 minutes of inactivity.
The automatic download in the newspaper kiosk also costs battery life. Here we show you how to disable it.
