iPad split screen under iOS 11 - so it'll work
Under iOS 11, Apple has again vigorously drilled out the split-screen mode. You can use the new mode as follows:
- First, open the first app on the iPad. Note: This must not be opened from the dock.
- Open the second app from the Dock and then drag it to the right corner of the screen.
- Now the split screen is displayed with the two desired apps.
- Tip: If the app is not yet available in the dock, you can simply drag and drop it there.
Split screen on older iPad - so share the screen
With older iPads with iOS 9 or 10 you have to do something different. Note: We will show you this function using the Safari and Maps apps, since these two apps are already preinstalled.
- First, open the Safari app while holding the iPad across.
- Then swipe your finger from the right edge of the screen to the center.
- On the right side you will now find a list of apps. Tap the map icon.
- The "Maps" app is now opened in a smaller version. At the edge of the app you will find a so-called "handle". Drag it to the left to activate split screen.
- Both apps are now displayed side by side.
