iPhone 4S: No more WiFi - what to do?
If your iPhone 4S has had no WLAN reception since the last updates and the WLAN switch is grayed out, a hardware fault is to blame. We explain what you can do in this practical tip.
No WiFi on the iPhone 4S: overheating of the Wi-Fi chip?
- Many iPhone 4S users can no longer establish a WLAN connection under iOS 6.1.3 or later. The exact reason for this is not clear.
- The Wi-Fi chip may have overheated and damaged the contacts. There is still no official statement from Apple.
No more WiFi - you should do that now
Overheating may not have damaged your iPhone in every case. Try the following steps in the order given:
- If there is an error in the settings for WLAN or mobile data traffic, it helps to reset the network settings.
- In the event of a software error, you can completely reset your iPhone. You should definitely do this to rule out an operating system error or, in the best case, to fix it.
- If the reset did not help either, a larger Apple shop can often find out the problem. Most shops have a diagnostic calculator that can often even fix the error.
- The last step is to call Apple Support. If you still have a warranty on your iPhone, it will usually be replaced. Otherwise Apple will charge you around 200 euros for a replacement device.
