iPhone 5S Touch ID: Save more than five fingers - here's how
It seems as if your iPhone 5S could not save more than five fingers or their imprint with Touch ID. We'll show you how to do it with a little trick.
Call up Touch ID on iPhone 5S
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone and select the "General" menu item.
- If you scroll down a bit, you will find the item "Touch ID and password".
- Enter your number code and tap "Touch ID" approximately in the middle.
- The recognition starts with the button "Add fingerprint". You can read how to do this correctly in the next paragraph.
Store more than five fingers on iPhone 5S using Touch ID
In theory, you can use this method to register 10 fingers for each memory location, i.e. save a total of 50 fingerprints. However, since complications quickly arise with such a large number, you should use a maximum of 5 fingers per memory location:
- First place the thumb of your right hand on the home button until the fingerprint on the display fills. Repeat the process with the index, middle, ring and little finger.
- Once you have put on all five fingers, the recognition is not over yet. Start again with your thumb. You may need to put each finger up to three times.
- When the first detection is finished, you have to repeat everything again, just from a different angle. Put your fingers back on one after the other, but hold the iPhone slightly differently.
- If this has also happened, the first fingerprint is saved. So you can unlock the iPhone with all five fingers of your right hand. However, only one memory location is used. You can now do the same with your left hand or other people's fingers.
This practical tip shows you how you can name the scanned fingerprints individually.
