- To replace the battery, you not only need two special screwdrivers, but also some other tools. A suction cup and plastic tools are also helpful.
- You can find the items you need in this mobile phone repair kit from iDoc. It is good that you also get the right battery for the tool.
- Note: Use this repair kit for the iPhone 6 Plus.
Step 1: Open iPhone 6 for battery replacement
- First, turn off your iPhone 6 completely. In this way you can prevent a short circuit on the device.
- Now take the appropriate screwdriver and remove the two screws on the left and right of the Lightning connector.
- Attach the suction cup above the home button and place the triangular pick between the display and the housing on the Lightning connector.
- Pull the suction cup upwards with a little pressure and push the pick slightly into the gap.
- Now carefully pry the display up with the pick. To do this, place the pick on the bottom left and bottom right.
- If the display has come off at the bottom, fold it up. Note that the display is still connected to the housing by cable.
- Attention: The display must not be folded up much more than 90 degrees. Overstretching the cables can cause damage. Therefore, keep holding the display in the following steps.
Step 2: Expose the battery in the iPhone 6
Note: In the following instructions, many different screws are removed, all of which have to come back to their exact place. It's best to make a small sketch of where each screw belongs.
- The cables from the display are hidden under a small metal cover. Remove all five screws there.
- With a flat plastic tool you can now detach all four contacts from the display. Carefully pry up the flat contacts.
- Put the display aside. Now remove the two screws from the vibration motor. This is the elongated component directly under the battery.
- At the bottom right next to the battery you can see another metal cover. If you loosen both screws, you can disconnect the cable to the battery underneath.
Step 3: replace battery from iPhone 6
- Two adhesive strips can be seen at the bottom of the battery. Carefully loosen the two adhesive strips with a flat metal tool.
- If you pull the first strip as flat and slowly as possible over the table, it will come loose after about ten seconds.
- Now hold the battery and remove the second adhesive strip.
- Now you can remove the old battery and install the new battery.
- To do this, attach the new adhesive strips to the battery. Make sure that the adhesive strip protrudes correctly at the end.
- Put the battery back in the iPhone 6 and press it down with a little pressure.
- Caution: Make sure that you choose the correct position when inserting. The cable from the battery must fit the connector perfectly.
- Now you can go backwards through steps 1 and 2. The display can be closed again with little pressure.
