iPhone error "Error 53": Spare parts paralyze the iPhone
- After the update to an iOS 9 version, many iPhone owners are in for a nasty surprise: The error code "Error 53" paralyzes the iPhone and simply makes it unusable.
- According to Apple, this is a security measure: If repairs have previously been carried out on the iPhone 6 by the owner or by companies that are not authorized as an official Apple service provider, the error code appears and shuts down the iPhone.
- Apple wants to achieve that repairs are only carried out by licensed companies if possible. After all, they also pay high fees and the service business is booming at Apple.
Error 53 after iPhone repair: Apple checks some components for authenticity
- The error has so far appeared on iPhone 6 models whose Touch ID sensor has been replaced.
- Many users with damage to the home button complain about "Error 53" - even if they were able to continue using the iPhone until the update to iOS 9.
- The error code is only displayed on the iPhone 6 with the update to iOS 9, even if there were no signs of errors or problems beforehand.
Fix Error 53 on iPhone: So far, little hope
- An Apple spokeswoman admits to the Guardian that affected customers should contact Apple Support.
- However, the spokeswoman left open whether and how the support would then solve the problem. According to the repair service "IFixIt" there is no way to make the locked iPhone usable again.
- All files stored locally on the iPhone are therefore lost. However, you can still access some things via the iCloud web app, such as photos and emails.
In order not to lose all data in the event of such errors, you should regularly create a backup.
