iPhone 6 in the CHIP test: a look at the external values
- The iPhone 6 has been on the market since September 2014. Instead of the usual 4 inch display diagonal, the new iPhone with 4.7 inches is significantly larger. With 1, 334 x 750 pixels, the display is comparatively sharp and sufficiently bright. The contrast and color space are impressive.
- The iPhone 6 lies comfortably in the hand with the aluminum case weighing 129 grams and 8 millimeters thick, but the dimensions are only mediocre compared to the competition. Especially the side edge looks too thick, numerous Android phones have done better.
- Since the iPhone 6, the power button is no longer on the top edge, but on the right side. So you can easily reach the button. The fingerprint scanner in the home button reacts a little faster compared to the previous model.
iPhone 6 in the test: what can the camera do?
- The main camera shoots 6 pictures with 8 megapixels in the iPhone. With a measured response time of 1.13 seconds, the autofocus is not particularly fast, but keeps the focus stable even when moving.
- In addition to a panorama mode, the iPhone 6 also offers a slow-motion function and series pictures. You will only find the optical image stabilizer in the larger iPhone 6 Plus.
- Overall, the iPhone 6 shoots solid images. In good lighting conditions, the color accuracy could be a little better. In poor lighting conditions, all cameras have problems. There is a lot of noise on the iPhone 6, but the recordings remain pleasantly bright.
iPhone 6: the inner values
- The dual-core A8 processor clocks at just 1.4 GHz and uses only 1 GB of RAM. Compared to Android smartphones, this is extremely little; in combination with the iOS operating system, the iPhone 6 is extremely fast.
- The battery holds a slim 1, 810 mAh. Nevertheless, the battery withstands an online runtime of around 8 hours in the test. The battery is fully charged again after about 2.5 hours.
- WLAN-ac, LTE Cat4 and Bluetooth 4.0 are also installed under the display. The built-in NFC chip is unfortunately only made for payments via Apple Pay. In Germany, you cannot pay with Apple Pay more than 3 years after the release of the iPhone 6.
- The iPhone 6 is delivered with the iOS 8 operating system. However, you can now update to the latest version iOS 11.
Conclusion: iPhone 6 in the test - is it worth buying?
- The iPhone 6 is available in three memory variants. You can choose between 16, 64 and 128 gigabytes. With 16 GB of storage, most users quickly reach their limits.
- You also have a choice of colors: gold, silver or space gray. It originally started at 699 euros. In the meantime, you can get the smallest version for just 280 euros. Here you can find the cheap prices for the iPhone 6.
- For the same money, you also get a solid and, above all, current Android smartphone. The purchase of the iPhone 6 is currently only worthwhile if you absolutely want to have an iPhone. Then you can get away with the iPhone 6 quite cheaply.
