iPhone 6S: Change battery - Instructions
If the battery of your iPhone 6S only lasts a few hours, you can simply change it yourself. In this practical tip, we will show you step by step how to do it.
iPhone 6S: Change battery - that's what you need
In addition to a new battery, you also need the right tool for the repair:
- This includes two different screwdrivers, a suction cup and plastic tool.
- You can find all of this in various cell phone repair kits. The following repair set from iDoc contains all the relevant tools and the required battery.
- Since the display of the iPhone 6S is glued, you also need a hot air dryer. Alternatively, a simple hair dryer does it.
Step 1: Open iPhone 6S for battery replacement
- Turn off the iPhone 6S completely and loosen the two screws at the bottom of the power connector.
- Now warm up the edge of the display. Keep enough distance so that the display does not get excessive heat.
- Now take the suction cup at hand and place it directly above the home button.
- With the other hand, insert the plastic pick under the home button between the display and the housing.
- Carefully guide the pick along the edge of the display so that the display comes off at all points.
- Attention: Then fold the display upwards, but not completely backwards. This is important because the display is still connected at the top to the back of the device.
Step 2: the way to the battery
Warning: You will remove several different screws from the iPhone. It is best to make a small sketch so that each screw comes back to its correct place later.
- At the top right of the iPhone you will find a small metal plate. Loosen all four screws there.
- Remove the plate and use a plastic tool to gently push all three cables upwards. Now you can put the display aside.
- On the lower part of the battery you will find another metal plate on the right. Loosen the two screws on the plate.
- Below that is the connection between the iPhone and the battery. Fold the connection up with a plastic tool.
- The Taptic engine is located under the battery. You can loosen and remove these on the left and right using the screws.
Step 3: change battery from iPhone 6S
- At the bottom of the battery you will find two adhesive tapes. There is another white adhesive tape underneath each.
- Pull out the tapes individually at the lowest possible angle. It is better to work slowly than too quickly.
- Once you have removed the two adhesive strips, you can simply remove the battery from the iPhone 6S.
- Take the new battery and attach the new adhesive strips to the battery. Make sure that the two black ends are folded down and do not belong on the bottom of the battery.
- You can then simply go through the instructions in reverse.
