The time has come - Apple has introduced the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Our comparison shows the differences. At first glance it is clear that the iPhone 6S Plus is bigger, sharper and more expensive.
6S and 6S Plus in comparison: the data of the new iPhone 6S
- Display: In the iPhone 6S you will find a 4.7 inch display with 1334 x 750 pixels. This corresponds to a pixel rate of 326 PPI. The typical contrast ratio is 1400: 1.
- Dimensions: The dimensions of the iPhone 6S are 138 x 67 x 7.1 millimeters. The smartphone weighs 143 grams.
- Processor: The Apple A9 with integrated M9 co-processor is installed as the CPU in the iPhone 6S. Compared to the previous model, it has become significantly faster.
- Camera: For the first time in an iPhone there is a 12 megapixel iSight camera with so-called live photos and 4K video recording.
- Wireless technologies: The iPhone 6S supports all current WLAN technologies including WLAN ac and also Bluetooth 4.2.
- Price: Depending on the storage space (16, 64 or 128 GB), the iPhone 6S costs around 739, 849 or 959 euros. You can always find the currently cheapest price in our price comparison.
Specifications of the iPhone 6S Plus: The big brother can do that
At first glance, the larger display in comparison to the iPhone 6S is particularly striking. There are also these differences:
- Display: The iPhone 6S Plus uses a 5.5 inch screen with Full HD resolution. This means that the smartphone with 401 PPI has a significantly higher pixel rate than the iPhone 6S. The contrast of 1300: 1 is slightly worse.
- Dimensions: Due to its larger display, the iPhone 6S Plus also has a significantly larger housing (158.2 mm x 77.9 mm x 7.3 millimeters) and is also somewhat larger at 192 grams. What quickly stands out: the 6S Plus is around 0.2 millimeters thicker than the iPhone 6S.
- Processor: The iPhone 6S Plus has exactly the same processor as the iPhone 6S. Since more pixels have to be calculated, it has a slightly poorer performance under maximum load. However, whether this will ever show in practice is rather unlikely.
- Camera: The camera also corresponds to that of the iPhone 6S. However, the iPhone 6S Plus also has an optical image stabilizer. The shots are less shaky and videos in motion are quieter.
- Wireless technologies: WLAN ac and Bluetooth 4.2 are also used in the iPhone 6S Plus.
- Extras: The iPhone 6S Plus supports a cross mode in many programs. So the homescreen can be displayed horizontally and in some apps like "Mail" the additional space in landscape mode is used for an overview.
- Price: The iPhone 6S Plus costs 849, 959 or 1069 euros for 16, 64 or 128 GB of storage and is therefore 110 euros more expensive than the iPhone 6S. Our price comparison proves that it is also cheaper.
Conclusion: display as the main difference between iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
The key difference between the two new iPhone models is the larger display. The iPhone 6S Plus is therefore somewhat more suitable for productive work. The higher pixel rate is difficult to perceive in everyday life and the optical image stabilizer is only a minor plus. If the iPhone 6S Plus is too big or too expensive, you can safely take the iPhone 6S.
