If the display of your iPhone 7 has cracked or is otherwise damaged, you can change it yourself with a little effort and thus save costs. In cooperation with iDoc we show you how it's done.
Change display from iPhone 7: tools and spare parts
- In addition to the new display, you also need the right tool for the repair. With iDoc you will soon receive both in one package.
- Then choose either the iPhone 7 display repair kit in black or the iPhone 7 display repair kit in white.
Step 1: Open iPhone 7 for display replacement
Note: Many different screws are loosened when the display is replaced. Therefore, make a small sketch so that each screw finds its correct place at the end.
- Turn off iPhone 7 completely and remove both screws at the bottom of the Lightning connector.
- The display is now heated with a hair dryer so that the bonds become detached. Make sure that the display only gets warm and not hot.
- Place the suction cup slightly above the home button and insert the plastic pick at the power connection between the display and the housing.
- Pull the pick around the case once. You can only fold the display to the right once all the bonds have been removed.
- When folding down the display, make sure that the two connection cables are not overstretched.
Step 2: change the display of the iPhone 7
- To the right of the battery is a silver metal cover. Remove the four screws and remove the cover (see picture).
- The battery connection is located under the cover. Carefully pry up the connector with a plastic tool.
- Do the same with the adjacent connection that leads to the display.
- An elongated sheet metal can be seen in the top right. Remove the two screws here and remove the sheet.
- Pry up the connector for the display underneath and set the display aside.
- Take the new display at hand and connect it to the iPhone 7. Reconnect the battery and start the iPhone to check the functionality of the display.
- If everything is OK, switch the device off again and disconnect the battery and display. Now various components such as camera and home button have to be taken over from the old display.
- Numerous screws and components are removed during this process. To do this, follow the video above from minute 7.
