iPhone: Save battery - the best tips
Like all batteries, iPhone batteries also have a limited battery life. We give you tips on how to save battery and how to achieve long runtimes with an old iPhone.
Tip 1: disable background updates of iPhone
There are some functions on the iPhone that run in the background and that draw an above-average amount of battery power. You can deactivate these functions. Here's how:
- Perhaps you have not yet disabled background updates to the content of apps. You should definitely do this, because in the worst case, these updates can also consume your mobile data volume with some apps.
- To do this, go to "Settings" and then to "General". There, tap on "Background Update".
- You should not switch off the background update completely, but better decide for each app whether it should get new content in the background (see picture).
- At this point it is advisable not to deactivate chat programs or e-mail programs, for example.
- However, if you never use the "Shares" app on your iPhone anyway, you should definitely move the slider for "Shares" to the left.
Tip 2: disable push notifications from various iPhone apps
When you install an app, you mostly allow the app to send push messages. This function sucks plenty of battery life for every app. So only activate this function for the apps that are really important to you.
- Go to the "Settings" of your iPhone.
- Then select the "Notifications".
- Here you tap, for example, the "Game Center" and move the slider at "Allow messages" to the left (see picture).
Tip 3: disable location services and save battery
Location services are the same as with push messages. Many apps want to access your location, although that would often not be necessary. Disable the location service for apps in this way:
- Go to "Settings" and there to "Privacy".
- Here tap on the "Location Services".
- You can now either deactivate the location services completely, allow the location services "When using the app" for every app that is shown below or switch it off completely with "Never" (see screenshot).
Tip 4: Deactivate Airdrop to save the iPhone battery
You may never use the Airdrop feature to exchange data between different iOS devices. In this case, you should deactivate it, because this function also sucks the iPhone battery continuously.
- To do this, go to the control center by swiping the screen from bottom to top
- Here you tap on "Airdrop" and then choose "Off".
Tip 5: turn off the parallax effect and save the iPhone battery
It's already chic - the parallax effect, which animates and moves the homescreen background. Unfortunately, the optical effect also consumes the battery.
- If you tap in "Settings" and then "General", you are choosing "Accessibility".
- In "Reduce motion", move the slider to the left (see picture).
