In order to use your iPhone as a remote control, the devices to be controlled must also have certain requirements. We show you what you need to consider and how to configure your iDevice here.
Use iPhone or iPad as a remote control
An iOS device has no infrared interface. So you can't use it like a conventional remote control. But with the appropriate software and network access, you can easily control WLAN-compatible BluRay players, receivers or Smart TV televisions. Panasonic has developed the "VIERA remote" app for its TV sets, for example.
- Download and install the app.
- Switch on your TV set. You have to do this in the conventional way with the remote control, as the TV does not establish a network connection in standby mode.
- Both Panasonic TV and iPhone must be registered in the same WLAN.
- In the app, select your TV in the "Settings" under "Device Select" and you can put the remote control away.
All functions are available to you with the app, as you are used to from the remote control. You can also use the existing keyboard to write text on your TV. It is important that the devices are registered in the same home network; remote control via the Internet is not possible. In our tip we used a Panasonic TV, the iPhone 4 and the iPad 2 3G.
