Start iPhone apps with gestures - how it works
To save time, you can launch important iPhone apps with different gestures. This practical tip explains how to activate gesture control on your iDevice.
Launch apps with multi-touch gestures on iPhone
With the app launcher "Gestr" you start selected apps with swipe gestures. You can assign a gesture to almost any app and start the tool anywhere in the system.
- To use "Gestr" you need an Apple product with the iOS 7 operating system. In addition, you must first jailbreak your iPhone or iPad.
- As soon as you have jailbroken your Apple device, download "Gestr" from the official website and install it via the alternative app store "Cydia".
- You can’t set gestures in the official firmware yet. However, you start individual apps with a head movement.
Gesture: Set and execute iPhone gestures
In addition to "Gestr" you also need the free tool "Activator". You can also find this in the Cydia store.
- Open the Settings app and navigate to the "Activator" area
- Now determine with which gesture you want to start the app. You can open the tool by pressing a button, using a gesture or a swiping movement, for example.
- Open any app you want to gesture.
- Start "Gestr" with the method you just defined. Select "Assign" and draw the desired gesture. You can repeat this as often as you like and thus overwrite old gestures.
- If you have decided on a gesture, exit the app and execute "Gesttr" again. Draw the saved gesture to start the corresponding app.
- Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each iOS app you want to swipe to start.
"Gestr" and "Activator" are so-called Cydia apps, which you cannot delete like normal iOS apps. We will explain how to remove Cydia apps anyway in a further practical tip.
