iPhone: deactivate autofocus - how it works
If you start the camera on your iPhone, the object in the center is automatically focused. You can deactivate this autofocus if you prefer to adjust the focus yourself.
Disable autofocus on iPhone and iPad
The auto focus of your iPhone and iPad helps you take sharp photos. To do this, the device automatically focuses the object in the center of the image. However, if you want to achieve specific blur, you have to deactivate this function.
- To do this, start the camera app on your iPhone.
- Then tap your finger on the camera image and hold it there for one to two seconds.
- At first a yellow square appears, which flashes twice. You will then see the message "AE / AF lock".
- The exposure and auto focus are locked for a short time. Repeat the steps after each start of the photo app to deactivate the autofocus again.
