Create iPhone backup in Google Drive - so it'll work
If you want to create an iPhone backup of your photos in Google Drive, this currently only works manually. However, the feature will be released in the coming weeks. In this practical tip, we explain how to create a backup for your iPhone until then.
Google Drive: Create backup from iPhone
- Start Google Drive and log into your Google account.
- Tap the plus button at the top right and select a "New Folder" here.
- Give the folder a name such as "iPhone Backup" and tap "Create".
- Open the folder, tap the plus icon in the top right corner and select the "Upload photos or videos" option.
- Tap on all the desired images and confirm the process with the button with the check mark.
iPhone: Create photo backup with Google Plus
As an alternative to Google Drive, you can also save your pictures in Google Photos. In contrast to Google Drive, the backup is already done automatically in the background.
- Open Google Plus for iOS and log in to your Google account.
- Tap the menu button at the top left and select the "Photos" category there.
- If you drag the screen down, the "Automatic backup" option appears.
- If you flip the switch here, your photos will automatically be saved from the iPhone to Google Photos.
- Finally, tap the "Back up all photos and videos" button below.
