Recording the iPhone screen has been no problem since iOS 11. In earlier iOS versions, this is also possible with a free iPhone app. You will not get them from the Apple App Store, however, and otherwise you will first have to create the requirements for the app on your iPhone. We will help you and show you the individual steps.
iPhone: Record screen from iOS 11
As of iOS 11, you can start the screen recording via the control center of the iPhone. Before doing this, you have to activate this function:
- Open the "Settings" on your iPhone.
- There, tap on the "Control Center"> "Customize Controls" menu and look for the "Screen Capture" entry.
- Now you can add the screen capture using the green plus.
- If you now wipe down the control center, the recording can be conveniently started and ended using the corresponding button.
- All recordings are saved in the video folder.

The following instructions only apply to devices that run an operating system older than iOS 11.
- First open the iEmulators.com website on Safari with your iPhone.
- Click on "Apps" in the menu and search for the "AirShou" app.
- You have to tap the app and tap "Download Page" in the popup.
- On the next page, tap the "AirShou" box again and then the "Install" button
- Only now is the app downloaded and installed on your iPhone.
Set up app for screen recording
- Before you can open the app, you have to go to "Settings"> "General"> "Profiles" on the iPhone and tap on the developer name. Note: In individual cases, the sub-item is also called "device management".
- Now you confirm that you trust the app or the developer and thus allow the app for your iPhone. Only then can you open and use the app.
- Then start the "AirShou" app on your iPhone, log in with a social media account and confirm the microphone recording. Now you can start with the first recording.
Record the screen of the iPhone with AirShou
Once you've installed the app, you can easily capture the screen:
- Open AirShou and tap "Record".
- Now select the "Portrait (Upside Down)" menu item under "Orientation" if you hold the iPhone upright while taking the picture. However, you do not change anything for landscape format.
- Under "Resolution" you can change the resolution and enter a name at the top. Then tap on "Next Step".
- Now you have to close the app by pressing the home button. Then drag the taskbar upwards and tap the Airplay button.
- Then select "AirShou" and activate "Screen Mirroring" underneath. From now on everything that happens on the screen is recorded.
End screen capture and send
- As soon as the recording has started, a red border appears at the top. Tap to stop recording.
- Then the app opens and you have to tap the "Stop" button.
- Attention: When we tried the app, it had a delay of about 30 seconds. To make sure that everything is on the recording right to the end, you should let the recording run for at least 30 seconds longer.
- To send the recording, tap the button with the video window in the top right of the app.
- Here you will find all recordings. To send a take, tap on it and select "Open in ...".
- Now you can upload the recording to Google Drive, for example, or share it on Facebook.
