iPhone: Solve Bluetooth problems
If you experience Bluetooth problems with your iPhone, various functions fail. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Update fixes iOS 8 Bluetooth issues
- With the release of iOS 8, various problems with users' Bluetooth connections occurred.
- With the update to iOS 8.1, a large number of the newly occurring problems were fixed again.
- In the "Settings" app you can carry out a "software update" under the "General" category.
First aid: solve Bluetooth problems on the iPhone
Bluetooth is used among other things for hotspots, headsets, keyboards and for the transmission of music.
- As simple as it sounds, first switch the Bluetooth connection off briefly and then on again.
- A lot can be done even by restarting the iPhone. Some problems are solved by themselves.
iPhone: Eliminate interference factors for Bluetooth
If the Bluetooth connection does not work, the problem is not necessarily with the iPhone itself:
- The distance between your iPhone and the other Bluetooth device should not be greater than 10 meters. The shorter the distance, the easier it is to find the devices.
- Even if the distance is supposedly small, metallic objects can interfere with the transmission and thus also reduce the transmission distance.
- If a device emits waves in the 2.4 GHz range, the Bluetooth connection is significantly affected. Therefore, keep a distance from the WLAN router, the microwave, and cordless phones.
iPhone: Re-pair the Bluetooth device
- Open the "Settings" app and select the "Bluetooth" category above.
- Activate Bluetooth and tap on the info symbol to the right of the paired Bluetooth device.
- Select the "Ignore this device" option and confirm your decision with "Ignore device".
- Now deactivate the Bluetooth connection on both the iPhone and the other Bluetooth device.
- Then turn Bluetooth back on on iPhone. Only now do you activate Bluetooth on the other device. Make sure that it is actively looking for a connection.
- The Bluetooth device should now appear on the iPhone. Select it and pair the two devices with each other.
Reset network settings on iPhone
- Open the "Settings" app and select the "General" category.
- Tap Reset at the bottom and choose Network Settings.
- Then confirm your decision with the "Reset" button.
- Attention: All devices and WLAN networks have to be set up and paired again.
iPhone: Disconnect from iCloud
- Open the "Settings" app and select the "iCloud" category below.
- Tap the "Logout" button below and confirm the action with "Logout" and "Delete from iPhone".
- Restart your iPhone and connect to the Bluetooth device.
- You can then log in to iCloud again so that your data is synchronized again.
Bluetooth error: exclude a defect on the iPhone
- If all of this did not help, try connecting with another smartphone. You should also check the connection between the iPhone and another Bluetooth device.
- If the error no longer occurs in one of the two variants, a defect in the respective device is extremely likely.
iPhone: claim warranty
- If you have unequivocally found the defect in one of the devices, you can claim the manufacturer's guarantee depending on the age of the device.
- Most manufacturers promise a one-year guarantee on their electronic devices, including Apple on their iPhone.
- Simply contact the manufacturer or visit an Apple store near you.
If you have to send your iPhone in for repair, you should save all the data beforehand. However, if you don't use iTunes, a backup is much more difficult. In our video we show you how you can still secure your contacts.
