iPhone: reset settings
If you want to reset the settings on your iPhone, you can do this in different ways with different results. We present all possibilities to you.
Reset settings on iPhone
If you only want to reset the settings on your iPhone and not your personal data, you can do this without much effort. Instructions for deleting all data (!) Can be found in the next paragraph.
- Open the "Settings" app and select the "General" category.
- Swipe down to the bottom and you will find the "Reset" item.
- The most relevant are the "All settings" option and the "Network settings".
- With the option "Clear content & settings", the iPhone is completely reset.
- If you wish, you can also reset the keyboard dictionary, the home screen and the location and data protection settings here.
- Note: Select one of the options, then restart the iPhone.
iPhone: Reset settings and data
If you want to reset not only the settings, but also the content, you can select the "Delete content & settings" option as above, or proceed as follows:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer with a USB cable and start iTunes.
- Select your iPhone in the top left and click on the "Restore iPhone" button.
- If you confirm the process, the latest iOS version will be downloaded and installed.
- Note: If you want to keep your data, you should first backup via iTunes or iCloud.
