iPhone error: "Software update not available" - hard reset helps
The problem is solved in almost all cases with a simple hard reset. A hard reset does not delete any data or settings from your iPhone, but only restarts the device:
- Press and hold the standby button and the home button simultaneously for about 5 seconds until the display turns black.
- The iPhone will then restart automatically. Now connect it to a power supply.
- You can now install the update as usual via "Settings", "General", "Software update".

If the solution mentioned above does not lead to the hoped-for success, we have put together a few more approaches for you:
- First try to download the update from another WiFi network. Be sure to connect iPhone to a power source while charging.
- If that doesn't help, you can also update your iPhone in iTunes.
- If none of these tips work, you can reset iPhone and then install the update. However, all data and settings are deleted. Make sure to make a backup beforehand.
