iPhone error message: Sim missing - what to do?
If your iPhone shows the error message "SIM missing", "Invalid SIM card" or "No SIM card installed", this can have several reasons. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
iPhone error message: SIM is missing
- Airplane mode: Open the "Settings" app and switch on the airplane mode. Wait a moment and deactivate it again.
- Restart: press and hold the power button and turn off your iPhone. Then start it again.
- Update: In the "Settings" app you will find the "Software update" under the "General" category. If a new version of iOS is available, install it.
- Network operator: Under the "General" category you will also find the "Info" item. If an update of the network operator settings is available, it will be downloaded.
iPhone: Clean SIM card
- Remove the SIM card from your iPhone and clean it. It works best with a microfiber cloth. If necessary, a slightly damp finger and a T-shirt do the same.
- Blow hard into the SIM slot of your iPhone to remove dust.
- When inserting the card, make sure that it is inserted the right way round.
Last step: reset iPhone
If none of this helped, all you have to do is restore your iPhone. All data is deleted and the system is reinstalled. You can then restore your data and apps from a backup.
