iPhone can't find WiFi network - what to do?
If your iPhone cannot find the WiFi network, this can have various causes. We'll show you how to fix it.
Troubleshooting: iPhone cannot find WiFi network
First of all, you should check whether the WiFi detection is not deactivated in your iPhone - e.g. because you accidentally switched the phone to flight mode. You can see this either in the control center - the WLAN button should be highlighted in white here. Or you can go to the Settings app and check under "WLAN" whether the WiFi detection is actually active. If the error is not here, try the following options:
- Briefly switch the WLAN of the iPhone off and on again. Your iPhone often connects automatically afterwards. You will find the option as described above under "Settings -> WLAN".
- If this does not help, you can next renew the network settings. To do this, go back to "Settings -> WLAN" and tap the blue arrow or the "i" behind the network (depending on the iOS version). Now select "Ignore this network". Then reconnect the network, for which you need the password. Alternatively, you can also reset the network settings via "Settings -> General -> Reset -> Network Settings".
- If there are still problems with the WiFi connection, the next step is to restart the iPhone. To do this, hold down the power button on the iPhone for a good three seconds, swipe the switch-off slider and wait until the smartphone is completely off. To restart the iPhone, hold the power button again for three seconds and enter your PIN after the start.
- The problem may also be due to your router or home network. Check whether another device (e.g. your laptop) recognizes the network. If not, switch your router off briefly and then on again after a few seconds. The on / off button is usually located on the back of your router.
- If the iPhone still cannot find the WiFi network, an update of the iOS device may be necessary. In "Settings -> General -> Software Update" you can see whether the operating system is up to date. If there is an update, follow the installation instructions.
