iPhone: Transfer photos to Mac - Here's how
In times of iCloud, transferring photos from iPhone to Mac is very easy. All you need is the "iPhoto" program.
Step 1: activate iCloud
You can synchronize photos between iPhone, iPad and Mac via photo stream. To do this, you need to activate iCloud on all devices:
- How to switch on the photo stream under iOS can be read in another practical tip.
- On the Mac, first make sure that "iPhoto" is installed. Then use the key combination [CMD] + [Space] to open the Spotlight search and type in "iCloud". Click on the corresponding result.
- Place a checkmark next to "Photos" and click on "Options ...". Place a checkmark next to "My photo stream" (see picture) and confirm with "Ok".
Step 2: transfer photos from iPhone to Mac
- Open "iPhoto". In the left menu bar you will find the "iCloud" under the item "Shares". Click on it.
- Under "My Streams" select the entry "My Photo Stream" (see Screenhsot). In this folder you will find all images that have been loaded from the iPhone into the photo stream. Note: If you have just taken a picture with iPhone, it may take a few minutes for it to appear in the photo stream on Mac.
- If you want to save or edit an image locally, drag and drop it into the desired album in your media library.
Alternatively: Transfer photos from iPhone to Mac without iCloud
If you don't want to use the "iCloud", you can also transfer your photos by connecting your iPhone to the Mac using a USB cable. You don't even need the iTunes program to do this.
- Connect your iPhone to your Mac via USB.
- Open the Spotlight search with [CMD] + [Space] and type in "digital images". Select the corresponding search result.
- Select your iPhone in the left bar of the program under "Devices". You will now see all the pictures saved on it.
- To transfer all or only selected photos to the Mac, select the desired destination folder in the lower bar next to "Import to:".
- Then mark the desired images and click on "Import". To transfer all recordings, select "Import all".
Another practical tip will show you what you can do if the photo stream does not load all the pictures.
