iPhone: Find out the IMEI number
For example, to remove the SIM lock or if it is stolen, you need the IMEI number of your iPhones. Every mobile phone can be identified using the 15-digit International Mobile Station Equipment Identity Number. This practical tip tells you where to find your iPhone's IMEI number.
Read the IMEI number from the software
The IMEI query basically works with all cell phones and smartphones with the same key combination, a GSM code consisting of stars (*), rhombuses (#) and numbers. Enter the combination * # 06 # in the number field and confirm with the call key (handset symbol).
Alternatively, you can also read the IMEI number in the "Settings" under the menu item "General"> "Info".
Read the IMEI number on the device
If your iPhone is not currently switched on, you can still find the IMEI: it is engraved on all Apple devices:
- On the iPhone 3 and 4 and their G and S variants, you will find the 15-digit IMEI number printed on the SIM card compartment.
- With the newer iPhone and iPad models, the IMEI number is engraved or printed on the back of the device.
