If you want to know how fast your iPhone or iPad is compared to other devices, you should do a benchmark test. We'll show you two well-known performance tests and reveal how good your personal iOS device really is.
AnTuTu Benchmark: Measure iPhone and iPad performance
The most common benchmark test is the free AnTuTu app for iPhone and iPad. The tool carries out an intensive performance check with your device, evaluates the individual units and compares them with the results of others.
- To do this, install the free tool from the App Store.
- Then close all background apps and open the program. There, tap on "Start Testing" at the top.
- The app now carries out an extensive benchmark test. Various 3D sequences are simulated and the performance measured. During the test, the screen may occasionally go black or flicker.
- After a few minutes you will receive a comprehensive test result with assessments of 3D performance, CPU and RAM.
GLBenchmark: Put iOS devices through their paces
The performance check from GLBenchmark is even more extensive than AnTuTu. In 33 different test procedures, the app uses an animation to check the computing and graphics power of your iDevice and uses it to calculate a score. The tool currently costs around 4 euros.
- Exit all background apps here before the test. Then start GLBenchmark.
- Now select the desired test method. If you want the most accurate result possible, activate all available test procedures.
- The app then runs the benchmark test. Depending on the number of procedures selected, this process takes several minutes.
- At the end, you will receive a score for each individual test, which you can compare online on the developer website.
