iPhone / iPad: Forgot restriction code - you can do that
If you have forgotten your restriction code for your iPhone or iPad, then mostly only a reset of the device helps. You can find out how this works and what you should pay attention to in this practical tip.
Forgot restriction code: You can reset your iPhone
First of all, you can try resetting your iPhone or iPad. Before doing so, it is highly recommended that you back up your data.
- Go to the settings.
- Tap General there.
- Scroll down and tap Reset.
- At this point, tap Clear content & settings.
- Now enter the unlock code of your device.
- After resetting and setting up your iPhone, you can set the restriction code again .
Reset iPhone via iTunes: Reset restriction code
An alternative to restoring your restriction code is to reset it via iTunes.
- In iTunes, click your device in the upper left.
- At this point, select the Restore iPhone option.
- Now create a backup on your computer via Backup .
- Your iPhone or iPad will then be reset.
Read out forgotten restriction code with tool
If you don't want to reset your iPhone or iPad, you can also use a tool to have the code read out.
- To do this, download Pinfinder for Windows, Mac or Linux.
- First, use iTunes to backup your iPhone or iPad.
- Now start Pinfinder. You may have to allow the Mac to open the program via the Security item in the system settings.
- Wait for the program to finish reading. This process usually only takes a few minutes. You can then read out the restriction code under Restrictions Passcode .
