Especially at night you often see a crescent moon in the status bar on your iPhone and iPad. In this article we will tell you what is behind the symbol and how you can remove it.
iPhone and iPad: Crescent as a symbol for the sleep mode
Since iOS 6 you will find the "Do not disturb" function on your iPhone. If this so-called sleep mode is activated, the crescent symbol appears in the status bar of your iPhone or iPad. As soon as you switch the mode off again, the icon also disappears.
- With the sleep mode you can deactivate the ringing and advisory tones for messages, calls and notifications. This way, you won't be disturbed by callers overnight, for example.
- You can either activate the "Do not disturb" mode manually or set a time in which the iPhone automatically switches to this mode. In addition, certain contacts can be excluded from the scheme so that you can still receive important calls.
- You activate sleep mode in the Settings app in the "Do not disturb" area. There you will also find all the important options for adapting the silent mode to your needs. A detailed explanation of all settings can be found in another article.
