If your iPhone is deactivated, you usually have to unlock it with iTunes. In this practical tip, you will learn what you can do in this case to remove the lock.
iPhone is disabled - what does that mean?
If the message "iPhone is deactivated, connect to iTunes" appears on the iPhone, the wrong password has been entered too often.
- After 6 incorrect attempts, the cell phone locks for a minute. For every further unsuccessful attempt, access is blocked for 5, 15 and 60 minutes.
- If the PIN code is entered incorrectly again, the device locks itself completely. Now only the reset via iTunes helps.
- Your data will be lost for the time being, but if you have created a backup in iTunes or iCloud, your data will be transferred back to the device after the reset.
iPhone or iPad deactivated - this is how you unlock the device
- Simply connect the device to your PC or laptop with a cable and open iTunes.
- Wait for the device to be recognized and follow the instructions to unlock the device.
- It is often the case that the device is not recognized by iTunes because it is locked.
- In this case you have to put your device into the so-called maintenance mode.
- Wait for the device to go into mode and then restore it via iTunes.
- After the restore is complete, you can use the device properly again.
- iTunes automatically deletes all files on the device for security reasons. If you have saved a backup on the PC or in the iCloud, you can then restore it immediately.
