If you are bothered by the camera sound of your iPhone because you don't like the sound or you want to take photos without being noticed, you can simply switch it off by taking a short detour. We show you how to do this.
Turn off camera sound from iPhone
Unfortunately, you cannot switch off the sound for the camera alone. To deactivate the camera sound, you must completely mute the device.
- Simply flip the switch on the top left of the housing. It is located above the two volume buttons. The device is muted when it vibrates and an orange button is visible next to the switch.
- Now all sounds on the iPhone are deactivated. Instead of a signal, you will now only receive a vibration in push notifications - provided you have activated this.
- Alternatively, you can also adjust the volume in the "Settings" app. In the "Tones" category, just slide the slider all the way to the left. You will also find other options here.
Special case: Deactivate camera sound on Japanese iPhones
If you have imported the iPhone from Asia, you cannot deactivate the sound.
- According to the law, devices from Japan must always produce a sound when a photo is taken. This is to prevent secret recordings.
- To deactivate, you need to establish an SSH connection to the iPhone and replace the sound file in the path "/System/Library/Audio/UISounds/photoShutter.caf" with a silent file.
