iPhone: set up speed dialing - does it work?
If you want to set up a speed dial on your iPhone, this only works with little tricks. We'll show you how it's done.
Update: Speed dialing is no longer required on the iPhone
- Abbreviated dialing was already available with the old Nokia cell phones, but it hardly makes sense on a smartphone because you can save any phone number as a favorite on the iPhone. This is also the reason why hardly anyone offers such a function.
- The website and the app from the following instructions are both no longer available. Alternative apps and websites have also given up their services. What remains are applications such as Call Express, which are neither really practical nor nice to look at.
Set up speed dial on iPhone
With apps like iQuickDial, you can put your contacts on the speed dial list within the app and call them from there. However, this trick is a little easier:
- Copy or write down the contact's desired number and open the Safari app.
- Enter //00152288888.tel.qlnk.net here and open the link. Of course, you have to exchange the cell phone number used here.
- If you have opened the link, you will be asked to call. Instead, tap the "Cancel" button.
- Tap the square icon with the arrow at the bottom and select the "Go to home screen" option.
- Now enter the name of the contact and tap on "Add". An app icon then appears on your home screen that you can use to call the contact.
