iPhone with iOS 9: Deactivate live photos - how it works
If you don't want to turn all photos into live photos, you can deactivate the function on your iPhone 6S (Plus) under iOS 9. We'll show you how it's done.
iOS 9: Disable live photos on iPhone 6S (Plus)
- A live photo requires about twice the storage space compared to a normal photo. This means that a single recording can already take up 5 MB of memory.
- Open the camera app and tap the round icon in the top center. If the symbol is yellow, the live photos are activated. If the icon is white like everyone else, no live photos are taken.
Information and tips about the live photos on iOS 9
- The live photos are not rotated videos, but rather several individual shots that are subsequently added to a MOV video. 1.5 seconds before and after the picture are taken.
- If the live photos are activated, pictures are taken permanently and stored in the clipboard. Thus, the iPhone is perfectly prepared for every live photo, but it also swallows a lot of battery.
- Keep your posture steady when taking live photos. Note that 1.5 seconds are still recorded after the recording. Therefore, wait patiently for the seconds after the recording.
- Live photos can only be viewed on iOS 9, watchOS 2 and El Capitan. For example, if you send a live photo by email, the image and not the animation will be sent.
