Connect iPhone to PC - so it'll work
If you want to manage your iPhone on the computer, you must first connect your iOS device to the PC. We show you what you need for it and what you can then do with your Apple smartphone.
Mac & Windows: Connect iPhone to PC
Every iPhone comes with a USB cable and a socket adapter. You can separate cables and adapters at any time.
- Take the USB cable at hand and plug it into a free USB port on your computer.
- If you connect your iPhone to the cable, the device will be recognized by the computer and installed within a few seconds.
- You can now access the iPhone like a USB stick. Here, however, you only have access to the images. For everything else you need a special tool:

- Connecting your iPhone to your computer without additional tools has only two advantages. The battery of your iPhone charges and the images stored on it can be viewed and copied.
- However, if you want to fully manage your iPhone, you need additional software such as iTunes. This allows you to back up your data and, for example, transfer music to the iPhone. Here you will find detailed instructions on how to sync your iPhone.
- If you use iTunes to manage your iOS devices, you do not necessarily need a cable. Alternatively, you can synchronize your iPhone via WiFi.
