Unlock iPhone with face recognition - how it works
If you want to unlock your iPhone using face recognition, this only works under special conditions. We show you when and how to do it.
Unlock iPhone via face recognition - only with a jailbreak
- Apple has not yet integrated a face recognition function on the iPhone. However, at the end of 2013, a patent was approved for Apple that describes how to unlock a device using faces' biometric data.
- At the moment, you can only protect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using the known lock code or a password or Touch ID. Alternatively, no protection is possible.
- What Apple is likely to deliver in the next few years is already available in the Cydia Store. To do this, you need to install a jailbreak on your iPhone.
Unlock iPhone: This is how it works with facial recognition
- The Tweaks FaceVault and Appellancy are particularly popular in Cydia. FaceVault is a relatively successful copy of the Android function FaceUnlock.
- If you open the respective applications, your face will be scanned in detail first. By setting up a second unlock method, you can still use your cell phone if the detection should not work.
- If you lock your iPhone and press the Home button, facial recognition will start automatically. Holding your face in the area shown will unlock the iPhone.
- Note: The two apps were developed professionally, but there is a possibility that the detection can be tricked by holding a photo.
