Reset iPhone SE - how it works
If the iPhone SE no longer works properly, you should reset it. This is the first step before sending the iPhone back to Apple. There are two options for the reset, which we will show you in detail. However, since all data is deleted from the device during a reset, you should always create a backup beforehand.
Reset iPhone SE to factory settings
Before you start, we strongly recommend that you create a backup. You do not need any additional software for the subsequent reset to factory settings. Here's how to do it:
- Open the "Settings" app and select "General".
- Scroll all the way down and select "Reset" here.
- Then tap Delete "Content & Settings".
- If you have set a PIN code, you must now enter it.
- After the recovery, you can set up your iPhone step by step and, if necessary, import the previously created backup.
iPhone SE: Create backup
Before you reset the iPhone SE, you should make a backup.
Restore iPhone SE via iTunes
In contrast to the first option, iOS iTunes is completely reinstalled in the so-called "iTunes recovery". Here's how to do it:
- Connect iPhone SE to Mac or PC using a USB cable.
- If the question appears on the iPhone as to whether you trust this computer, confirm it.
- Open iTunes on the computer and select iPhone in the top left.
- There is now a "Restore iPhone" button on the overview page.
- Click on it and follow the instructions. Apple then downloads the current iOS version from its servers and installs it on the iPhone.
Our tip: You can also create an iPhone backup in Google Drive. This saves space on your computer.
