iPhone storage: what does "other" mean?
In addition to "Music", "Apps" and "Photos", the entry "Other" also appears in the memory management on the iPhone. In most cases, you no longer need the data behind it. We explain exactly what "others" means and how to get rid of the data ballast.
"Other" in iPhone storage - what is it?
The "Other" section hides files that are neither music nor apps, photos or videos. This includes the following data in particular:
- Temporary files: Surf with Safari or use other apps with Internet access on your iPhone, iPad or iPod, temporary files are created. They are shown under "Other".
- Mails and messages also belong in the category "other". Especially mails with a large attachment or messages with videos or photos as content require a lot of storage space. This includes chats from messengers like WhatsApp.
- Most of the data from the "Other" category is not required for everyday use and can therefore be safely removed. We'll show you how to get rid of the superfluous data.
