The lock code protects your iPhone from unauthorized access. By changing the code, you can choose your own 4 or 6 digit combination for authentication. In this practical tip, we will show you how to do this.
Change lock code on iPhone - Here's how
The security option is located in iOS 9 in the settings for "Password" (older devices) or "Touch ID & Password" (iPhone 6 and newer).
- Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone and navigate to the "Password" or "Touch ID & Password" menu.
- To access the menu, you may need to enter your current code or put your finger on the sensor.
- Then tap "Change Code".
- Now you can enter your new code. With the button "Code Options" you can use the "Six-digit numerical code" instead of the 4-digit code on older devices. This offers you more security.
- After entering your new password, you have to confirm the code again. You can then use it for every access.
In the next practical tip, we'll show you what you can do if you forget your iPhone lock code.
