iPhone and iPad: Save PDFs to iBooks
iBooks on iPhone and iPad is not only suitable for browsing through books: you can also save and read PDFs there. We explain how to import a PDF document into iBooks.
Mail: Save PDF document in iBooks on iPhone and iPad
- You can open a PDF file that you received by email attachment by tapping on it.
- At the top right, tap the share icon (a square with an upward arrow).
- Then select "Open in iBooks". The iPhone / iPad then automatically jumps to iBooks and opens the file there. It is also backed up automatically. You will find them later in the "Everything" category as well as under "PDFs".
Safari: Save PDF file in iBooks
- If you would like to load a PDF from the Internet into iBooks, first open it in Safari and tap once with your finger anywhere on the document.
- A menu bar opens at the top. Tap here on the right "open in iBooks".
- The document is now automatically saved in iBooks.
Dropbox and Co .: Save PDF to iBooks
In other apps, you may not immediately see the "Open in iBooks" option:
- If you want to transfer a PDF from Dropbox to iBooks, for example, first open the document in Dropbox.
- Then tap on the share symbol and select the button below with the app store logo "Open in ...".
- Scroll through the list of available apps (if necessary) and select "Open in iBooks".
If you do not have the desired file on your iPhone or iPad, you can transfer the PDF to iTunes using iTunes and save it directly in iBooks. We will show you in another article how this works.
