iPhone and iPad: What can the HandOff function do?
You need two Apple devices to use HandOff. These include iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with (at least) iOS 8, as well as a Mac or MacBook with OS X Yosemite.
- With HandOff, you can start an activity on one device and continue on the other. To do this, you must be logged in with the same iCloud account on all devices.
- If you surf on your Mac at home with the Safari browser, you can simply continue the session on the go with the iPhone. The function is always offered to you on the lock screen and in the app switch. On Mac, the suggestions end up in the dock.
- HandOff not only works with Safari, but with almost all Apple apps. These include maps, mail and notes. But calls can also be answered and made on the Mac.
- Under iOS, the function can be activated in the "Settings" app under "General" and "Handoff & app suggestions".
