iPhone: Clear history - how it works
Someone else is holding your iPhone and shouldn't see what you were looking for on Google? This practical tip shows you how to delete the history.
Clear Google history in Safari on iPhone
The Safari web browser stores all Google search queries. To ensure privacy, simply delete the search history. We show you how this works:
- Open Settings on iPhone.
- In the settings block at the bottom you will find the sub-item "Safari". Click on it.
- Scroll down and click "Clear history and website data." Confirm the selection.
- Now both the entire search history and the history have been deleted. Separate deletion is not possible with Safari.
- You can delete Safari history on all iOS devices using this principle.
- If the Clear History button is grayed out, you return to the Settings menu. Click on "Restrictions". Enter your code there and tap on "Websites". Select "All websites". Now history deletion is allowed.
Clear Chrome history on iPhone
If you use Google Chrome as a browser on your iPhone, you can also easily delete the history here.
- Open the Google Chrome app.
- Tap the menu button. Select the "Settings". To do this, scroll down a bit.
- Click the "Privacy" option. Another menu now appears.
- Under the item "Clear browser history", delete the history.
- Choose what you want to delete. Browsing history, cookies, website data, images & files in the cache, saved passwords and AutoFill files are available.
- Select the desired option and confirm the entry.
Clear call history on iPhone
You can also clean up the list of your phone calls:
- Open the phone app.
- Click the "Call History" tab. Here you will see a list of recent calls that you have made or received.
- Tap "Edit" in the top right corner. A red minus sign now appears next to each call.
- Click on a red minus sign to delete the individual entry.
- At the top left you will find the "Delete" button. This way you can delete all entries at once.
