iPhone X: The smartphone has so many megapixels
The iPhone X and its successors XS and XR can shine with impressive performance data. However, this only applies to a limited extent for the camera's megapixels - the value is at most in the middle of the competition.
iPhone X, XS and XR: comparatively few megapixels
The quality of a camera does not primarily depend on the number of megapixels. Apple shows this very clearly in its current flagship devices. While the image quality plays at a very high level, the number of megapixels is at most average.
- The devices iPhone X and XS each come with a dual camera as the main camera. Both the wide-angle and the telephoto lens work with a 12 megapixel sensor .
- The iPhone XR, which is considered a slightly stripped down version, has only one main camera. This also shoots pictures with 12 megapixels .
- In the front camera, all three devices are the same: Here, a sensor with 7 megapixels is used.
- For comparison: other flagship smartphones such as the Huawei P30 work with 40 megapixels in the main camera and 32 megapixels in the front camera. This is a multiple of the pixels you get in the iPhone. However, reliable conclusions about the image quality cannot be drawn from the number of megapixels.
