If you want to use your iPhone XS or XR in DualSim mode, it's very easy. In this guide, we show you exactly how this works on both iPhone models.
iPhone XS & XR: Use DualSIM with the eSIM function
The new iPhones have a physical nano SIM slot. To use the dual SIM, you can use the eSIM function. A correct SIM card is no longer required, a QR code or an app from the mobile operator is sufficient. To do this, he must support eSIM. Proceed as follows to set up an eSIM:
- Open Settings on iPhone.
- Tap "Mobile network, " then tap "Add a cellular plan."
- You can now scan a QR code. Alternatively, you can also enter the connection data manually using "Enter information manually".
Manage multiple SIM cards
To keep an overview, you should name your second SIM card accordingly. After the setup is done, do the following:
- It is best to select "Secondary" for the new eSIM. This means that you define the previous SIM as the primary SIM card and the newly added SIM as the secondary SIM.
- The next step is to select the default line for phones. Here it is advisable to use the primary SIM card as the standard line if, for example, you have a telephone flat rate.
- You will then be asked if you want to update the contact's preferred line. Here you can also select the first option "Use primary as preferred line".
- Tip: You can add multiple eSIMs, but only use two at the same time. You can also use eSIM cards only. There is no need to insert a SIM card in the iPhone.
