iPhone shows white screen - what to do?
A white screen sometimes appears, especially on older 3rd generation iPhones. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
iPhone: screen remains white
No such case is known for the newer iPhones. The cause is either a hardware defect, a software defect or the consequences of a jailbreak. In most cases, the software damage can be repaired.
Reset iPhone
- Unfortunately, there is a small software error now and then in the older devices. However, this can always be remedied with a small handle.
- Hold down the home button and the on / off switch for about 10 seconds (see picture). Then the iPhone restarts and the problem should be resolved.
iPhone: restore software
- If a software error occurs frequently or a jailbreak has been installed, you should completely restore the system. To do this, follow point 3 in these instructions.
- If iTunes no longer recognizes the iPhone, you must put the device into DFU mode. Instructions on how to restore using DFU mode can be found in this practical tip. Alternatively, you can watch the following video:
iPhone: repair after display defect
- If the white screen appears immediately after the device has been dropped, it is very likely that the display is defective or the connection is disconnected. Such a repair costs around 30 euros in a specialist shop.
- If you are confident that you can repair it, you can do it yourself. You can find numerous video instructions on YouTube on how to open your iPhone and restore the connection between the board and the display.
