Many users do not need the newspaper kiosk on the iPhone and simply want to move it to a folder or delete it entirely. However, this does not work with the known means. We show you how you can move the kiosk without a jail break.
Move newspaper kiosk to a folder on iPhone
You can move the newspaper kiosk app into a folder using a small program on your computer. This requires no installation and is completely harmless to your Apple device.
- Download the free StifleStand tool from the developer's website. Here you will find the program for both Windows and Mac OS.
- Then start the EXE file and connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your PC using the USB cable.
- Now click on the "Hide Newsstand" button, wait three seconds and disconnect your device from the computer.
- The newspaper kiosk on your iPhone is now in the "Magic" folder (see picture). You can now rename it and add apps. Start the app and it will crash immediately. In some cases, your device can also crash, but this is not dangerous. The app is also invisible in the preview of the folder.
Remove newspaper kiosk on iPhone until next restart
With a small security hole in the iOS system, you can carry out a fake update for the app by accessing a website. However, this does not start at all, so that you can delete the app. However, this process only lasts until the next restart of the device.
- Open the "Safari" app and enter cydiahacks.com in the address bar.
- Scroll down slightly on the website and select the menu item "Hide Apps no Jailbreak".
- Scroll down again and select the "Hide Newsstand" item.
- The query "cydiahacks.com would like to install Newsstand Hide" appears. Confirm this with "Install".
- Safari closes, the newspaper kiosk app is now trying to update. However, this fails after a few seconds and you receive an error message. Confirm this with "Done".
- Now hold your finger on the newsstand until all apps start to shake. Now you can remove the app using the cross at the top of the app. The app will disappear until the next restart.
iOS 5: Move newspaper kiosk to a folder
Under the first version of iOS 5 there is a bug that allows the newspaper kiosk to be moved to another folder.
- To do this, you must simultaneously drag any app to another so that a new folder is created. When you let go of the app, you have to tap the newspaper kiosk app and drag it into the folder.
- Unfortunately, this is only possible in the first version of iOS 5 and usually requires a lot of attempts.
