iPhoto: instructions and first steps
In this iPhoto tutorial, you will learn how to use Mac OS X software to import and view photos, how to edit them, and how to send them to friends.
Import and view photos with iPhoto
Open iPhoto on your Mac. You can find the program in the Finder under "Programs".
- Import iPhoto images by clicking "File" in the menu bar.
- From there, select "Import to library" and navigate to the images you want to add to the iPhoto library.
- At the same point you can also switch between your photo libraries via "Switch to media library".
- You can search the media library via the left display. It is best to click on "Photos" and look at the various photo streams on the right.
- If you want to enlarge an image, click on the photo.
Edit photos with iPhoto
After you have enlarged a picture, you can click on the pencil button "Edit." click.
- Here you have various editing options. So you can "rotate" your picture with iPhoto.
- You can also correct red eyes, straighten, crop or retouch the image.
- You can switch from "Simple corrections" to "Effects" using the tabs in the right display.
- Various filters can be placed over the image, such as a "sepia" filter or an "antique" filter.
- At this point you can also change your image using "Brighten", "Darken" and "Contrast". Use the "Back to original" button at the bottom right to reset the changes.

Quick Start Guide: Send photos with iPhoto
If you would like to send a photo to your friends directly using iPhoto, click on "Ready."
- Here you can share your picture across the various networks, send it by email or send it as a message.
- You can also create a slideshow with the picture.
- If you choose the "Mail" option, you can send your picture in a slightly different way.
- Various styles are available, such as "postcard" or "collage".
- You can then add an individual message to the picture and surprise your friends with it.
You can also use iPhoto to create photo books with your photos.
