iPhoto won't start - you can do that
iPhoto is the standard photo editor on Mac. If the program does not start properly, the gallery may be damaged. You can find more solutions here in this practical tip.
iPhoto won't start - what to do?
If you can't start iPhoto on Mac OS, just follow the tips below to get the tool working properly again:
- There may be problems with the iPhoto database. Start the program with the [Alt] key pressed and then create a new database by clicking on "Create new database".
- If this does not help, you should create a new user and start with this iPhoto. If that works, there may be a problem with the other user account.
- You can therefore try to have the access rights repaired. To do this, you must hold down the [Alt] key again when starting and select the "Repair access rights" item.
- Then click on the "Repair" button. Note that this process can take some time.
- In many cases there are also problems with the settings of iPhoto. Therefore open the path "~ / Library / Preferences /" and delete the file "com.apple.iPhoto.plist". Then you should empty the trash.
- There may also be an update available for your system that corrects this problem. To find out, click the Apple logo at the top and choose "System Update."
- If you cannot solve this problem with the tips above, you can try to import a backup from the Time Machine.
