IRC Chat: There are these commands
In Internet Relay Chat, IRC for short, different commands are available to users. The basic rule is that a slash, i.e. a slash, without spaces is placed before each command. With this practical tip we present the most important commands of the IRC chat.
IRC commands for users without their own channel
As an IRC user without your own channel, you have various options. We show you the most important functions:
- Whois nickname: You enter the user name of the respective user in the nickname and thus receive information about the user.
- Join #Channelname: Put the name of the channel behind the hash sign and enter a room. If the room does not yet exist, create a channel in this way.
- Part #Channelname: Put the name of the channel behind the hash sign and leave a room. If you are the last user in the room, the channel closes.
- Nick Nickname: Enter the desired user name for the nickname. This way your nickname will change if the name has not yet been assigned.
- Who Nickname: Use your own username to get information about yourself.
- Whowa's nickname: You enter a user name for the nickname and receive information about when it was last online or whether it is currently online.
- Names #Channelname: Put the name of the channel behind the pound sign and see which users are online in the channel.
- Map: With this function all servers are displayed.
- Luser: You get information about the connections.
- Version: Information about the server version is displayed.
- Stat Stat: You get an insight into the server statistics.
- Left: You can see the servers that have been linked.
- Ping nickname: You enter a user name for the nickname and thus have access to the connection to the user.
- Rules: Show the rules of the channel.
- Motd: Show the daily message.
- Quit: With this command you terminate the IRC connection. Give the channel users another message along the way, for example by writing "/ Quit I am now gone".
- Admin: Show the channel admin.
- Knock #Channelname: Put the name of the channel behind the pound sign and knock on a channel.
- Invite Nickname #Channelname: Enter the user name of the respective user for the nickname and the name of the channel after the pound sign. How to invite someone into the room.
- List: Show all channels.
- Privmsg Nickname: Enter the user name of the respective user for the nickname. Then write a private message to the user.
- Away: After the command, write a reason for your absence, such as "/ Away I'll be gone for a moment".
- Ignore nickname: Enter the user name of the user you want to ignore.
IRC commands for users with their own channel
You can also execute some commands only as a user with their own channel. We present the most important commands:
- Mode #Channelname: Enter the name of the channel after the pound sign and thus define the rights of the channel.
- Wallops: In this way you send messages to all users with the + W flag.
- Samode #Channelname Mode: After the pound sign, specify the name of the channel and specify the mode. With this you assign different rights to users of a channel.
- Globops: With this command you send a message to all channel admins.
- Ban Nickname: Enter the user name for the nickname. With this command you ban a user from the channel.
- Unban nickname: Enter the banned username for the nickname and allow him to re-enter the channel.
