IrfanView: Metadata.dll is missing - you can do that
In IrfanView, the Metadata.dll plug-in is used to display EXIF and IPTC data as well as comments in pictures. This practical tip shows you what you can do if this file is missing.
How to set up Metadata.dll in IrfanView
You can see whether Metadata.dll is installed correctly by clicking "Help" in IrfanView and then "Installed PlugIns ...". The file should then be listed in the overview. If this is not the case, it must be copied to the correct directory.
- The Metadata.dll file belongs in the "Plugins" subdirectory of your IrfanView installation. By default this is: "C: \ Program Files \ IrfanView \ Plugins \", unless you have changed the installation path. The file is automatically copied there during the installation.
- You can solve the problem by reinstalling the software. To do this, download the current version here.
- Alternatively, it is sufficient to download IrfanView from the manufacturer's website as a ZIP file and to extract the Metadata.dll into the existing plugins directory. Make sure to use the 32-bit or 64-bit version depending on your installation.
